It’s been a massive year for Lord of the Rings fans already, with several huge announcements we’ve been waiting on for ages, such as the reveal of Warhorse Studios’ upcoming Middle-Earth open-world RPG. The next months and years ahead are looking stacked when it comes to new releases, with Andy Serkis’s The Hunt for Gollum on the way, Stephen Colbert’s Shadow of the Past, and of course the upcoming launch of The Rings of Power Season 3.
While the fanbase is somewhat divided over many of these announcements, there’s no question we’re entering a new era for the franchise. That said, while Warhorse’s new game is quite exciting for those who are familiar with the Kingdom Come: Deliverance franchise, it’s still a long way off, and gamers don’t have many options at the moment in terms of Lord of the Rings-based RPGs.
However, thanks to a brand-new reveal at this year’s Gen Con event, The Lord of the Rings: The White Tower & The Hall of Gold is a brand-new RPG experience for gamers that will officially launch in September this year (via BackerKit).
The One Ring RPG has become one of the most acclaimed tabletop RPG adaptations of J.R.R. Tolkien’s work. Developed by Free League Publishing and lead designer Francesco Nepitello, the award-winning RPG returned with its second edition in 2022 and continues to expand players’ adventures across Middle-earth.
Now, Free League has announced a major new BackerKit campaign that serves as a “triple offering,” featuring the campaign expansion The White Tower and the Hall of Gold, the bestiary Creatures Strange and Foul, and a revised Core Rules compendium, all compatible with existing supplements.
The centerpiece of the announcement is The White Tower and the Hall of Gold, a massive expansion dedicated to the kingdoms of Gondor and Rohan, the last great realms of Men standing against Sauron’s growing influence during the Third Age. Players can expect to explore iconic locations and embark on adventures steeped in the ancient traditions, politics, and conflicts of these legendary kingdoms as darkness gathers across Middle-earth.
Alongside the campaign book, backers can also pick up the new Creatures Strange and Foul bestiary, packed with adversaries ranging from Black Númenórean spies and Haradrim champions to ancient evils, while the revised Core Rules refine the presentation and rules with updated artwork and clarifications. Collector’s Editions of all three books will also be available exclusively through the campaign.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
